Walk The Dream's Targets Have Changed...

Note from Pete.  At the sound advice of a mentor, trusted instructor and hopefully friend, Shari Fitness, I've decided to conduct daily or nearly daily blog entries towards the progress of Walk The Dream.

For this entry, I'm going to share the reasons why Walk The Dream has changed its objectives in terms of our distance and launch date.  Submitted previously on our Facebook page; www.facebook.com/walkthedreamsmallbiz

After much soul searching, prayer and considering all factors, I've decided to revise the Walk The Dream event.  I believe it's for the best and will actually allow us to have more impact while being more realistic and believable to prospective advertisers too.

Walk The Dream will now begin on Labor Day, Sept. 5th, 2011 and end New Year's eve, 2011.  Instead of 4700 miles in 180 days, we're going to Walk 2011 miles in 100 days. I'm excited because we're adding new cities like Pittsburgh, PA; Hartford,CT; Providence, RI;  Denver, Co; Colorado Springs, Co; Salem, Ore; Irvine, CA and Baton Rouge, LA.

Here are other reasons:

* We now have four months to launch a proper public relations campaign.
* Our operating costs are reduced almost in half; presents more realistic sponsorship targets.
* We now have the time necessary to create Advertising / Sponsorship campaigns with greater impact.
* We can leverage our launch and capitalize on peak back to school and holiday buying seasons which will help our marketplace sales.
* Walking 2011 miles in 100 days (20.11 miles per day vs 26.2 m.p.d.)  is still a significant feat but it won't have us walking through the South during the heat of July and August.  We'll also be in moderate climates before Winter truly sets in.

We will be updating the Website over the next few days to properly reflect these changes.  I have to confess, I'm a bit disappointed and was truly looking forward to begin sooner than later but wholeheartedly believe this is the right thing to do.

Our message and goals remain the same.  It's about paying forward, giving back and building stronger local small business communities.

Walk The Dream:  2011 MILES  l   100 DAYS  l  1 GOAL

As always, thank you for your continued support.  Please don't hesitate to reach out with any comments or questions or if you have a prospective sponsor... hey, it never hurts to ask!

Humbly Yours,

Pete
